Judge: Graham Hunt (Sallate)

Many thanks to the club for their hospitality. I enjoyed judging despite the weather.

M.P.D (3)

1st, Supeta’s Big Hunk o’ Love for Debison. Nearly 7 months old and what a future superstar ( no doubts). I try to resist going overboard on minor puppies but can’t help it in this case. This is a future top Dobermann. Scored in all departments instantly, sound on the move with reach, drive vigour, so balanced for his age. Being hyper critical he should be more compact but once forelegs develop that criticism will disappear as too with his underjaw. I will not break his head down into parts just look at it and see “Dobermann male“ in the dictionary. Look at his depth of brisket, ample fore chest, his rust red marking, bone shape and quality. Basically this is a Dobe to study if you wish to interpret anything close to our breed standard. I was so tempted to give him the C.C. But I must judge on the day and can’t assume his compactness, forelimbs and underjaw will develop as I predict. R.C.C. B.P.I.S.

2nd . Rantowish The Silver Bullet. Very raw pup, plenty of time to develop. Compact enough, good depth of chest, eye colour should be darker. Very unlucky to meet winner today.

3rd. Lateagain Let Them All Talk.

Puppy Dog (1)

1st. Knecht Mander. Strong head (not too coarse) very good eye shape and expression. Masculine build with very good bone and compact (enough) body. Sound and balanced on the move for his age.

Junior Dog. (2).

1st. Korifey Vanquish. Excellent back line, and compact body. Correct depth of brisket and the correct “ ample “ forechest. Pleased to see the elongated blunt wedge shaped head, enhanced with correct eye shape and colour, giving excellent expression. If cropped it would be like looking down the barrel of a shotgun. Dobes were bred to be intimidating in appearance. Overall balanced both standing and on the move. Markings and bone quality very good.

2nd.Grafmax Oberon at Camperdown . Compact enough and head qualities including expression are good but not as good as winner.

Yearling Dog. (1).

1 st Jojavik Snowpiper. Overall good for head shape and eye shape but excess cheeks slightly spoil the expression. Body is compact enough, bone and markings are also good. Clearly scapula should be laid back more, and this shows on profile movement. Depth of brisket is very good.

Novice Dog. (5,3)

1st Supeta’s Big Chunk o’Love for Debison

2 nd Grafmax Oberon at Camperdown.

Both seen dogs.

3rd Aritaur Quarterron,

Graduate Dog. (2,1) 2 absent.

1st. Grafmax Oberon at Camperdown. Seen dog.

Post Graduate Dog. (3) 2 absent.

1 st. Grafmax Sergeant Pepper. Skull is too broad, and cheeks are not flat, eye colour should be darker. Very good bone shape and quality. Rib cage is well sprung and deep enough. When settled on the move he showed good reach and drive. Despite my preference of more compactness he held his back line in profile movement .

Limit Dog (4).

1st. C.C. , R.B.I.S. Tuwos Liusaidh.

Instant eye catcher, has ring presence which is enhanced by top class handling. Most importantly very good for type, you can easily see this as he enters the ring. Head shape, length, dark eye colour and correct eye shape all add up to that desired strong/ intimidating expression. Neck is in proportion, back is strong and compact and overall balanced standing and on the move. He is strong and masculine in build without being too coarse. Being very critical, rear movement is a little more than natural limb convergence. Not surprised that he is aptly named Warrior. Pleasure to have judged him.

2nd. Kreiger’s Foul Play

Very good depth of brisket, right on the elbow (where it should be with no exaggeration) . Very good forechest, again ample (correct) no exaggeration. Eye colour not as dark as winner, very good for bone and markings. On the move he is free and balanced. As with the winner he scores on type, just not as compact. Quality Dobermann .

3rd. Avectir Teraline du Russia at Lamar.

Open Dog, (6) 1 absent.

1st, CH. Jojavik Victor Rizzi at Katemead.

He has correct parallel head planes and when added to this, is correct expression, length and shape, you only end up with 1 thing, a very good example of head type. Balanced fore and aft, hence he is sound on the move, with good reach and drive. To be very critical his hocks should be stronger and his body is just compact enough. Scored well in the important areas, head, breed type and soundness.

2nd. Amazon Pure Russian.

Very good head type, strong with good expression, flatter cheeks would make for an excellent quality head. Body is balanced, in proportion and correctly compact. He has excellent depth and spring of rib add to this correct bone qualities and markings giving the important basis of breed type. Although a little excited on the move he shows soundness. Not the most elegant Dobe, but instantly shouts “ quality Dobermann male “

3rd. CH. Repertoire Simply Red SHCM.

Lost out on compactness, and this shows on profile movement particularly in backline. Still a very good Dobermann but at this level it only takes small differences to split the best three.

Veteran Bitch. (3) 1 absent

1st. CH. Supeta’s Spells Trouble J.W. SHCM.

Very pleased to find this quality in veteran class. Literally you can immediately (within 5 seconds) see the essential assets that add to breed type. She has the head shape and expression, strong, deep, compact body. She has balanced angulation, no surprise that she is sound on the move. I wish I had seen her in her prime, yet it’s very easy to imagine, I have to admit I briefly conjured that image and smiled to myself, thanks for entering her. A good Dobe to study if you’re learning about essential assets of breed type.

2nd. Grafmax Ninette de Valois. Very good bitch, unfortunate to follow the winner immediately after I’d finished waxing lyrical on her. Head planes not as parallel as 1st, good depth of body but not as compact as 1st. Slightly over angulated at rear, but still a sound very good bitch.

Minor Puppy Bitch(0)

Puppy Bitch (1)

1st. Supeta’s Diamonds are Forever with Debison.

Very good puppy, head overall is very good. Shoulders should be laid back more but she is balanced on the move. Compact enough.

Junior Bitch (2) 1 absent.

1st. Grafmax Titania.

Compact enough with ample forechest and good depth. Eye colour is good but shape is more round than almond shaped, altering the expression. She over reaches on the move due to slightly long second thigh. Good bone and markings.

Yearling Bitch. (5) 1 absent.

1st. Kodam Painted Lady.

Balanced front and rear, both standing and on the move. A little long in 2nd thigh. Good head shape and length, correct compact body and excellent bone and markings. Very good depth of chest and ample forechest.

2nd. Diego’s Debbie Harry.

Overall well balanced with very good head shape and expression. Not as compact as winner and pasterns turn out slightly.

3rd. Lamarg The Russian Princess.

Novice bitch. (1)

1st. Sharshyste Lady Winterfell

Eye colour should be darker, negatively affecting the expression. Body is compact enough but backline not held strong on the move. Good depth and forechest with well sprung ribs.

Graduate Bitch. (3) 1 absent.

1st. Grafmax Titiana. Seen dog.

2nd. Dobehaven Memphis Belle.

Skull is too broad, and cheeks not flat. Bone shape and quality is very good as are markings. Very good depth and spring of rib.

Post Graduate Bitch . (4)

1st. Grafmax Lucy in the Sky.

Balanced both standing and on the move. Eye colour should be darker and more almond shaped. Body is compact enough and backline is strong.

2nd. Amazon Show Me Heaven.

Quite unsettled (as were two others in this class) I can only guess that it was the worsening conditions or a huge coincidence. Understandably I had to assess what I saw. Excellent forechest, ample depth. Balanced on the move. Good head length and shape.

3rd. Lamarg the Russian Redhead.

Limit bitch. (6) 1 absent.

1st. Diego’s Doris Day.

Difficult to assess, as she is a very busy dog. However during her brief settled time, she is obviously good for type and very compact. Very good for head type, neck is in proportion. Shoulder should be laid back more, again the appearance is not helped by her constant fidgeting. When settled on the move she shows real quality (but you have to be quick). She is very compact and has correct depth of brisket. Holds her backline strong on the move. Fortunately her many good points don’t take long to assess, frustrating to judge but well worth it. R.C.C.

2nd. Aritaur Pacific Passion.

Not as compact as winner. Ample depth and forechest. Head is good type and neck is in proportion. Movement is balanced and free, overall good quality bitch.

3rd. Jodaseen Cardinal Envy.

Open bitch.

1st Korifey Opium.

Instantly (about 4 seconds after entering the ring) she displays quality, balance and obvious excellent breed type. Very easy dog to assess as she is both well handled and naturally balanced. Her head qualities are excellent, parallel planes, dark almond shaped eye along with correct shape, length and underjaw , clearly giving excellent expression. She is strong, compact, deep and strong in backline. Movement is balanced and reach and drive are seemingly effortless. A difficult bitch to criticise as she is unexaggerated in all departments. I had no hesitation in awarding her the C.C. and B.I.S.

2nd. Ruholfia Giorgia

Another excellent bitch, very good on the move showing balance and good reach and drive. Eye shape is a touch round, and shoulder placement should be laid back more. She is compact with correct depth and forechest, back is strong both standing and on the move. Importantly she is excellent for type.

3rd. Smartwoodhills Dietrich at Mattacane.

Another balanced quality bitch, similar assets to 1st and second she is strong in build (very strong)
