SCOTTISH DOBERMANN CLUB – OPEN SHOW – SAT 21ST MAY 2016
Thank you to the Scottish Dobermann Club for allowing me the honour of judging at your well run and extremely organized show and to all the exhibitors who entered and turned up on the day.
Veteran Dog – Legget’s Swanwite Solo Edition – This handsome brown/rust male has a lovely length of head and dark eye. Angulation good both front and rear, sadly he struggled on the move.
MPD–1. McColl & Ingram’s Jojavik James Bond – Cracking black/rust 8 month old puppy of medium size , square, smart and elegant. Clean head with parallel planes , medium stop and well shaped dark eye. Super neck flowing into well laid shoulder placement. Excellent front and rear angulation standing strong on parallel hocks , showed nice balance on the move…. Handled very well to BPD. 2. Young’s Malibray Kilchoman – Another lovely brown/rust 8 month old puppy with good substance and rich brown colour, strong head well filled and nice dark eye, elbows tight and good angulation. Croup a little low and slightly weaker on his hocks than 1 at the moment but am sure this will strengthen with maturity .
PD – 1. McColl & Ingram’s Jojavik James Bond 2. Cairns’ Dronski Dare To Compare – Black/rust 9 months old puppy with very strong bone and already quite a large boy, long correctly proportioned head with the darkest of eye. Good neck flowing into good shoulder placement, topline could be a little tighter , hocks strong and parallel. He moved out well when he settled into his stride.
Veteran Bitch – Balshaw’s Ch Janzins Jamelia JW ShCM – Nearly 10 years young this black/rust bitch is in super condition. She has a long neck into well laid shoulder with ample forechest and depth with equally well angulated rear quarters. Movement is steady and sound from all angles. Pleased to award her BVIS. 2. Waldie’s Ch Coltregan Prada at Vonedstram –7 years old this black/rust bitch has a very eye catching outline, super strong head and dark eyes well filled under to flat cheeks, correct stop and length of muzzle. Excellent front with elbows lying close to brisket and legs parallel , rear angulation very good just a little longer in loin than 1 which showed up in her topline on the move. MPB – No Entries
PB – 1. Brough’s Remesca Rouge Noir – Cracking 9 month old brown/rust girlie presented superbly in excellent condition, pleasing head with level planes , elegant neck into good shoulder placement, elbows close to brisket , parallel front legs and the tightest of feet all round. Superb topline and correct tailset , front and rear angles equal to create a totally balanced outline which showed on the move. BPB & BPIS. 2. Waldie’s Vonedstram Valeska – Another quality 10 month black/rust girlie, superb head with excellent length of muzzle and dark almond shaped eyes, good front angulation equal to rear , elbows close to brisket and parallel front legs with tight feet. Good topline held firmly on the move.
JD – 1. Metcalf’s Linda’s Wot A Thriller – 15 month brown/rust , very substantial heavy boned male with strong well shaped head and correct head planes, good dark eye of good shape, elbows close to brisket and strong straight front legs with tight feet. Front and rear angles a little straight but both balanced, good strong topline held on the move and strong hocks, however I would like a little more length of neck . 2. Brown’s Dark Rocco Miratia (Imp Pol) – 13 months black/rust male with very dark well shaped eyes and dark rust markings, good well proportioned head with good length of muzzle and well filled under the eye. Clean neck into shoulder which is a little straight as is his rear, compact shape and topline very tight tending to roach which I am sure will settle as he matures. Played up a little on the move but when settled went well.
YD - 1. Brown’s Dark Rocco Miratia (Imp Pol) ND – 1. McColl & Ingram’s Jojavik James Bond . 2. Brown’s Dark Rocco Miratia (Imp Pol) GD – 1. Brown’s Dark Rocco Miratia (Imp Pol) 2. Lainchbury’s Ashlain Sotiros – Strong 12 months black/rust male in superb condition with good muscle. Well shaped strong head with correct shaped dark eye, elbows close to brisket with straight front legs. Good angulation front and rear just needs to settle into his frame. Moved ok once settled.
PGD –1. Zaluka’s Eick Z Padoku for Lariza (Imp Pol) – Very smart square 2 year old black/rust male, strong well proportioned head with good breadth and depth of muzzle with excellent underjaw, medium stop and the darkest of eyes. Strong short topline held at all times on the move, slightly steep in shoulder but good return of upper arm placing his elbows tight to ribs and well set under his body. His rear angulation is balanced to his front – A very true mover in all directions, handled very well. ( Reserve Best Dog ) 2. Tylor’s Jojavik Bulletproof Bomb JW – Strong 18 month black/rust male presented in superb condition, well proportioned head with correct eye shape and dark eye. Very strong bone with good depth of chest and forechest, well angulated both front and rear, a little longer in loin than 1 but moved out well.
LD - Todd’s Supeta’s Troublemaker For Tofferbach JW ShCM – 3 year old black/rust male, Lovely strong boned boy with correct head proportions and dark eye, good neck flowing into a good layback of shoulder. Elbows lay close to good depth of brisket and parallel straight front, rear angles equal front angles giving a good overall balance which showed on the move. Would prefer slightly shorter loin but a very sound balanced dog. 2. Waldie’s Vondestram Vantash – 3 year old brown/rust male. Excellent long head with correct proportions, well filled with dark almond shaped eyes, parallel front legs with elbows close to brisket, compact body with angles equal front and back although slightly steeper in angulation than 1 .
OD – 1. Todd’s Stormhold Elite Warlord JW – 2 year old brown/rust male. Very strong stylish male with a superb head with excellent length, equal proportions of skull to foreface, dark eye and well filled under to flat cheeks, correct stop and good depth and width of muzzle with solid underjaw. Good neck flowing into correct lay of shoulder equal to return of upper arm, elbows close to brisket and parallel straight front legs. Strong compact topline leading to correct croup and strong rear hindquarters. Moved and showed extremely well and was pleased to award this handsome boy Best Dog and Reserve Best In Show. 2. Downie’s Ch Knecht Marek - 3 year old black/rust male. Another strong super smart boy with superb head with excellent length , dark eye and well filled under to flat cheeks, good depth and width of muzzle and correct underjaw. Front legs parallel and elbows close to brisket. Front and rear angles well balanced although slightly steeper than 1, strong compact topline held at all times.
JB – 1. Graham & Mycroft’s Supeta’s Pocket Rocket at Sharhyste – 15 month black/rust bitch, super smart outline and presented in superb muscle condition. Good length and proportion of head with dark deep set eyes, shoulders ok , enough return to equal length of upper arm with elbows close to brisket of good depth, parallel front legs and super tight feet. Short strong topline leading to correct croup and correct rear angulation with particularly good width of second thigh onto strong hocks which gave a lot of drive from behind. Moved and handled very well. 2. Parson’s Ottia Maleficant – 16 month black/rust bitch. Another super smart outline, correct head with equal proportions and dark deep set eyes, very good front and rear angles, compact body with strong topline held at all times, strong hocks and although her front legs were parallel her elbows were not as close to brisket on the move as 1 but moved well when settled.
YB – Sanderson’s Jaktay Cardinal Sins at Jodaseen – 23 month old black/rust bitch, a very compact elegant girl, good length of muzzle, parallel planes and dark well shaped eye. Although slightly upright in shoulder the return of upper arm is equal, elbows close to brisket of sufficient depth and front legs parallel. Short strong topline held on the move and good rear angulation, presented in excellent condition. 2. Hickling’s Evalesco Voodoo Child – 21 month Black/rust bitch, another very compact elegant girl. Pleasing head with good length of muzzle , parallel planes and slight stop. Correct front and rear angulation giving a balanced outline, would prefer her topline a little stronger on the move.
NB – 1. Stracey’s Stay In Style Shelby At Krieger – 9 month Brown/rust bitch. Strong but elegant girl, her head is of good length with equal proportions of skull to foreface. Elbows close to brisket and straight front legs, front and rear angles are equal giving a balanced outline. Good muscle condition and moved out well. 2. Cairn’s Lamarg Exotica – 1 year old black/rust bitch with good strong bone, strong but feminine head with good length and proportions with slight stop, correct eye shape. Front and rear angles ok and balanced. Slightly wider in front than 1 and this showed on the move.
GB – 1.Lainchbury’s Ashlain Tyrpiti - 12 month old black/rust bitch, this strong but elegant girl has a superb head and expression, parallel planes and equal proportions of skull to foreface , dark almond shaped eyes well filled under to flat cheeks. Elegant neck into correct lay of shoulder equaling length of upper arm, elbows close to good depth of brisket, parallel front legs and good feet. Good topline and correct croup with strong rear quarters , rear angles equaling front angles to create a very smart outline, moved very well.
PG – McIlroy-Stracey’s Krieger Aphrodite – 2 year old black/rust bitch, this girl has a super length of head with equal proportion of skull to foreface, dark almond shape eyes and slight stop, head planes not quite parallel. Elbows close to brisket and straight front legs with the tightest of feet. Short compact topline held on the move, front and rear angles equal and excellent croup providing a very balanced clean outline. Moved very well with one of the truest fronts coming towards me on the day. 2. Verral’s Camperdown Carn Aosda – 5 year old black/rust bitch, ultra smart girl with pleasing head of good proportion, elbows close to brisket and straight front legs, balanced front and rear angles and good topline. Moved well just a little finer than 1.
LB – 1. Thorne”s Taevas Black Velvet at Graffmax JW ShCM- 2 year old Black/Rust bitch with a strong but feminine head, well filled under the eyes with good depth of muzzle, eyes moderately deep set of correct almond shape. Straight front legs and elbows close to correct depth of brisket, strong slightly sloping topline with correct croup. Moderate front and rear angulation completing a very pleasing outline. Movement was steady and true holding her topline firmly whilst on the move ( Reserve Best Bitch ) . 2. Feeney’s Stormhold Enigma at Diego (JW) – 2 year black/rust bitch , another lovely girl with a strong but feminine head, well filled under the eyes and good depth of muzzle, dark eyes of correct shape. Straight front legs and elbows close to good depth of brisket, good angulation front and rear but not as clean in topline and croup as 1. Moved out well with purpose.
OB – Ingram’s CH/IR Ch Jojavik Poison Ivy JW ShCM – 3 year old black/rust bitch - What can I say about this beautiful girl that has not already been said… Excellent strong head but still retaining femininity, equal proportions of skull to foreface with dark almond shaped eyes with an alert expression. Elbows close to good depth of brisket and straight front legs onto super tight feet. Long neck into excellent front angulation and strong slightly sloping topline. Rear angles equal to front creating a perfectly balanced outline. Moved out extremely well and superbly handled to Best Bitch and Best In Show. 2. Graham’s Sharhyste Maid in Essex – 3 year old black/rust bitch, good length of head of equal proportions with dark almond shape eyes, elbows close to good depth of brisket and straight front legs, strong topline held on the move and correct equal angles front and rear. Moved very well when she had settled.
